Today’s Community Scripture – 9/16/2024

– Scripture:

Servants, do what you’re told by your earthly masters. And don’t just do the minimum that will get you by. Do your best. Work from the heart for your real Master, for God, confident that you’ll get paid in full when you come into your inheritance. Keep in mind always that the ultimate Master you’re serving is Christ. The sullen servant who does shoddy work will be held responsible. Being a follower of Jesus doesn’t cover up bad work.

                            Colossians 3:22–25 MSG

– Reflection:

               It’s the Small Things

Remember, it’s not always the big things that keep us from reaching our full potential with God. It’s often the small things. If we fail to show respect and honor our spouse by doing something small that’s important to them, that small thing can hold us back from greatness. Being harsh, argumentative, and difficult to get along with can prevent us from reaching our potential. Sometimes, it means doing things we don’t feel like doing or things that don’t seem fair. For example, at work, when we’re not receiving credit or are not treated well by someone, why should we be kind to them, maintain a positive attitude, and go the extra mile?

Where do we go from here?

“Honoring God takes patience, resilience, and character. None of these things require a degree or loads of money to perform for him. God is saying, ‘Will you do it as unto Me? Will you keep your mouth closed for Me? Will you be kind to that undeserving person for Me? Will you be your best at work for Me?’ Do it as unto God. He’s the One who matters. Promotion doesn’t come from people; it comes from Him. When you do the right thing when it’s hard, you’re passing the test. You’re going to go to levels that you’ve never imagined.”

Our Prayer for Today

Dear Father, thank you for calling us to be people of excellence in everything we do, to go the extra mile, and always give our best. We want our best efforts to come from our hearts filled with love for You. We believe that as we give our all, we will experience Your goodness and favor in new ways. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
