Today’s Community Scripture – 5/6/2025
When they were together for the last time they asked, “Master, are you going to restore the kingdom to Israel now? Is this the time?” He told them, “You don’t get to know the time. Timing is the Father’s business. What you’ll get is the Holy Spirit. And when the Holy Spirit comes on you, you will be able to be my witnesses in Jerusalem, all over Judea and Samaria, even to the ends of the world.” These were his last words. As they watched, he was taken up and disappeared in a cloud. They stood there, staring into the empty sky. Suddenly two men appeared—in white robes! They said, “You Galileans!—why do you just stand here looking up at an empty sky? This very Jesus who was taken up from among you to heaven will come as certainly—and mysteriously—as he left.”
Acts 1:6–11 (MSG)
– Reflection:
To stand there in awe, witnessing something so divine that you glance at those beside you just to confirm you aren’t losing your mind. The sheer power of that moment—undeniable, holy, real. And then, to be given guidance from that same power… how could you not follow through? When we encounter God in such a profound way, we are changed. We are called. And though the follow-through may not be easy, it becomes necessary. It’s been years for me, and I’ve only scratched the surface of what He’s asked me to do. Yet each day, I feel more empowered to reach for the next task, to step deeper into the purpose He’s laid before me. I don’t want time to run out before I’ve done what He’s called me to do. And neither should you.
– Where do we go from here?
It’s time for us to pick up our tools and begin. For so long, I’ve been mesmerized by merely having them—these gifts, these callings, these tasks placed on my heart. But I realize now: they weren’t given to be admired; they were given to be used—to honor God through action. In the coming weeks, I know things will begin to take shape. I’ll see glimpses of progress, pieces of the task coming together. And then, it’ll be time to assemble them, to publish, to share, and to honor what’s been placed in me all these years. Now, I move with intention. Each day, I must do something—anything—to keep that assembly line moving. Because standing in awe, while beautiful, doesn’t get the work done. He gave me the tools. Now it’s time to use them. As I pray for each of you in the mornings, I ask that you also pray for me, that I may continue to honor God and complete what He’s entrusted to me.
– Our Prayer for Today
Father, it is you who wakes us each and every day with a list to work on. Please continue honoring us with days to complete. Do not allow fear and doubt to keep us from honoring you. Lord, thank you for placing me in just the right spot to do the work you gave me. Amen.
