Today’s Community Scripture – 6/28/2024

– Scripture:

‘When I kept it all inside, my bones turned to powder; my words became daylong groans. ‘

                             Psalms 32:3 MSG

– Reflection:

               Cover Up

The passage above describes how David reflected on his declining health in the year following his affair with Bathsheba and the subsequent killing of her husband to conceal it. He deceived himself, suppressed feelings of guilt and shame, and pretended that everything was fine. However, burying negative emotions can harm the soul and eventually manifest as physical illness. Eventually, David admitted his wrongdoing and asked God for forgiveness and purification, saying, “Create in me a clean heart.” The beauty of God lies in His forgiveness and mercy. He forgave David, restored his soul, and healed his physical health.

Where do we go from here?

“Don’t let guilt and condemnation from something that you’ve done wrong in the past keep your soul unhealthy, hold you back, or weaken you physically. Get honest with yourself and get the toxins out. Go to God as David did and ask Him to forgive you, to cleanse your heart, to restore your soul and your health. Receive His mercy.”

Our Prayer for Today

“Father, thank You that we can receive Your forgiveness and have a clean heart today. Thank You that we can be honest about any sin and any mistake and get the toxins of guilt and bitterness out of our soul. Help me to walk in the joy of our salvation and in the fullness of health. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”

Today’s Community Scripture – 6/26/2024

– Scripture:

Peter and the apostles answered, “It’s necessary to obey God rather than men. The God of our ancestors raised up Jesus, the One you killed by hanging him on a cross. God set him on high at his side, Prince and Savior, to give Israel the gift of a changed life and sins forgiven. And we are witnesses to these things. The Holy Spirit, whom God gives to those who obey him, corroborates every detail.

                            Acts 5:29 MSG

– Reflection:

               Not Moved

Remember this: Sometimes, you have to make a choice, just like the apostles did. Will you stick to your beliefs and be true to who you are, or will you let other people’s opinions and approval shape your actions and identity? If you rely on others to validate you and lack confidence in yourself, you’ll hold back and let their views dictate your future. However, it will require courage to accept what God has in store for you. He will take you to places no one in your family has ever been. He will turn you into a trailblazer, a trendsetter.

Where do we go from here?

“Not everyone will understand why you refuse to compromise with them. Not everyone will approve of you if you don’t conform to their way of thinking. People who were once supportive may become critics and try to discredit you. Now they’re finding fault. That’s when you have to stand firm and say, ‘I’m not swayed by who’s not for me. I’m living to please God.'”

Our Prayer for Today

Father, thank you for being the true and living God and rewarding those who honor and obey you. Thank you for calling us to follow you and to not shrink back when others want us to let go of our convictions. We believe that as we are doing the right thing, you will reward us with favor. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Today’s Community Scripture – 6/25/2024

– Scripture:

But a wicked person who turns his back on that life of sin and keeps all my statutes, living a just and righteous life, he’ll live, really live. He won’t die. I won’t keep a list of all the things he did wrong. He will live. Do you think I take any pleasure in the death of wicked men and women? Isn’t it my pleasure that they turn around, no longer living wrong but living right—really living?

                            Ezekiel 18:21 MSG

– Reflection:

               Confession Isn’t Sufficient Enough

Confession is important, but it’s not enough. Real change only happens when confession is accompanied by genuine repentance. Confession is about acknowledging our sins—to God, our partners, or trusted friends. Repentance, on the other hand, is about action. It’s about turning away from those sins and leaving our old selves behind. It’s about declaring that we don’t want to be those people anymore. Repentance means turning towards God and being open to becoming new, better individuals. Confession is a crucial first step, but repentance is the ultimate goal. While confession requires courage, repentance simply requires a willing heart.

Where do we go from here?

Please remember the following text:

“Repent of the things you need/needed to confess, brother. Turn your back on those sins and be willing to listen to God. He will always let you start anew. Repent and turn back, so that your sins may be blotted out.”

Our Prayer for Today

“Father, it is a pleasure to do the work that you require of us. If, while helping someone, they try to involve us in worldly things, it is okay to distance ourselves and let them face the consequences. At that point, only you can save them, not us. We have done our part to provide hope for redemption. The rest is up to them to accept you. Knowing this keeps us on the right path, guiding our steps along the path you have set for us. Thank you for the grace of each day, Jesus. Amen.”

Today’s Community Scripture – 6/24/2024

– Scripture:

So, let God work his will in you. Yell a loud no to the Devil and watch him scamper. Say a quiet yes to God, and he’ll be there in no time. Quit dabbling in sin. Purify your inner life. Quit playing the field. Hit bottom, and cry your eyes out. The fun and games are over. Get serious, really serious. Get down on your knees before the Master; it’s the only way you’ll get on your feet.

                               James 4:7–10 MSG

– Reflection:

                Let GOD Work

When we come to Jesus Christ, God comes close to us in a powerful pursuit. The infinite reaches down to the finite. The holy covers the unholy. Perfection seeks the imperfect. A believer’s salvation starts with a humble confession of our sins and the urgent need for Jesus to cleanse us. Our transformation continues with the humble recognition that we need Jesus daily in order to live holy lives.

Where do we go from here?

“Where are you resisting giving yourself fully to the Lord? God rescues undeserving and unworthy believers from death and the bondage of sin through the sacrifice of His Son. He places infinite and immeasurable value on us, and He can be absolutely trusted with our full devotion. Where do you feel pressured to resist God and deviate from His plans for you?”

Our Prayer for Today

“Father, I thank You for Your amazing love that compels us to trust You with our lives. Lord, please help us to replace our selfishness with Your humility, our resistance with submission, and our half-heartedness with Your wholeness. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”

Today’s Community Scripture -6/21/2024

– Scripture:

Where do you think all these appalling wars and quarrels come from? Do you think they just happen? Think again. They come about because you want your own way, and fight for it deep inside yourselves. You lust for what you don’t have and are willing to kill to get it. You want what isn’t yours and will risk violence to get your hands on it. You wouldn’t think of just asking God for it, would you? And why not? Because you know you’d be asking for what you have no right to. You’re spoiled children, each wanting your own way. You’re cheating on God. If all you want is your own way, flirting with the world every chance you get, you end up enemies of God and his way. And do you suppose God doesn’t care? The proverb has it that “he’s a fiercely jealous lover.” And what he gives in love is far better than anything else you’ll find. It’s common knowledge that “God goes against the willful proud; God gives grace to the willing humble.”

                          James 4:1–6 MSG

– Reflection:

             Get Serious

“When believers compromise and live according to the culture, values, and ideas of this world, we are committing spiritual adultery. God makes it clear that we cannot serve two masters. If we live for the world, we will worship the things that the world values, which directly oppose the values of God. We must choose daily to serve, worship, and live for God alone.”

Where do we go from here?

Where are you finding it challenging to compromise with the world? God empowers believers to resist the temptation to compromise His values and instead live wholeheartedly for Him.

Our Prayer for Today

Father, we thank You for protecting us and helping us resist the temptation to compromise Your values and distort Your Word. Please protect our hearts and minds from thoughts, ideas, or belief systems contradicting Your Word. Lord, please remove any areas of pride in our hearts that may prevent us from humbly serving You and Your people. We ask this in Jesus’ name. Amen.
